As a weight loss consultant I work to help people lose weight. We talk about eating healthier, eating more throughout the day and eating well -consistently - to shed the pounds. Most people understand what actions they need to take but few are able to actually implement it. Peoples' lives are busy. They work all day, go to the gym, spend time with their families, go to events and even work into the night. All of these activities take away from preparing the tradition home-made family dinner. How is it possible to find the time to make a healthy dinner when there is so much to do and so many things demanding of our time? The fact is - people don't spend time making themselves healthy meals. Instead they rely on fast foods or prepared, over-processed dinners. All of this means added pounds and possibly never seeing the size 8 you once were in high school.
Some companies are coming to the aid of Americans. They realize that our lifestyles are not changing. As much as we want the simply life - it is no where in sight. We are over-worked and over-stimulated. Some of us may never find the time to take care of ourselves the way we hope to. Only when we see our waist lines expanding and our health declining do we decide to take action. But how will we find the time to prepare the healthy meals that we need to eat? That takes time shopping, planning, cooking and cleaning. Where will those extra hours come from? Who wants to be cleaning up from dinner at 10 o'clock at night? But - not all of us can afford a personal chef to prepare our meals .... or can we?
What if you knew you could have a healthy meal delivered and waiting for you after a long day at work? What if you had a great low fat, nutritious meal all planned out for you after a hard workout and coming home late from the gym? Would you then be able to stick to a healthier lifestyle? Would that mean less late night eating or stopping for that fattening fast food on the road? Would that mean that you no longer shove cookies or chips in your mouth when you get home as you are starving while trying to prepare a healthy dinner? (we've all done it!) Do you think it would help you lose weight ? - maybe even give you a few more quality hours each night?
More and more companies are getting into the meal preparation and meal delivery business to accomodate our hectic lifestyles. We should be thankful because these services may just be the life preserver we have been waiting for. Some of these companies are claiming to be diet plans when they really are getting people on a regular plan of eating better. This is nothing new - did we really think there was magic diet pill that would enable us to eat however and whenever we want and keep a great figure? No! It all comes down to good healthy eating habits.
Could having a meal delivered be the answer for you?
There are more and more meal delivery services popping up throughout the country. Some put the time and effort into making healthy, low fat, low sodium, preservative free meals. Some go gourmet and maybe not so healthy. Some cater to special interests - making diabetic meals, vegetarian dinners, gluten free lunches, or offer low sodium meals delivered to your door. Many are flexible - enabling you to select the meals you need. Maybe you only want five dinners a week or five lunches and dinners or three meals a day - seven days a week. Some will even allow for substitutions or let you alter your plan each week as your schedule changes. As companies expand you may even be able to pick your fresh meals at your local gym to save on delivery costs. These services are coming to the aid of Americans as we struggle to maintain our health and our weight. Very few of us are willing to do what it takes to manage this ourselves... we are looking for an affordable, convenient way to take care of our nutrition.
I have taken the time to review meal service ratings and give you all of the information you need to find the best meal delivery service for you and your family. (See my chart that compares Meal Delivery Services.) Hopefully with this information you will be able to pick the service that best meets your needs or maybe you will be inspired to start cooking healthy for yourself - who knows? Either way - it is time for all of us to be more health conscious and live a higher quality of life.
Most of the meal delivery plan offer all meals or just dinners delivered to your home flash frozen. I did find one that delivers FRESH with a special packaging to keep it from spoiling! Another service partners with local businesses and delivers locally to those living in the Philadelphia, New Jersey, Washington DC, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia and SanFrancisco areas so you save on shipping and get the food fresh, not frozen. I outlined it all in a chart so it is easy to follow. Since I can't find a way to make a chart in a HUB - I had to provide a link and host the chart on my own website.
